I was lax this week. No other way to put it.

A few handfuls of popcorn while I was at a Monday night movie with the kid. A section of dark chocolate with almonds at a business meeting the next day. And cups and cups of coffee just the way I like it – light and sweet.

And, according to the scale, I didn’t lose any weight. I was bummed about that at first, but then I put on a pair of jeans that I had NO HOPE of getting into a few months ago, and a top that used to be so tight around the middle, I wasn’t really sure if I was ever going wear it.

Yep. And I felt good.

It was a reminder that intermittent fasting isn’t just about losing weight – it’s about all the other good things that are happening inside my body too. It’s about how my body shape is changing. It’s about how I am listening to my body more than ever before – and how I feel in it…which is more comfortable than ever.

Intermittent fasting is about me being in charge of making good choices for my body. Thinking twice about my food choices, even on Eat Days. And dancing around my bedroom when those jeans…the ones I had NO HOPE of getting into a few months ago, slipped on and zipped up like nothing.

Intermittent fasting is about me looking at those “skinny” jeans with intent, and realizing it’s only a matter of time before those zip up too. The “one day” that I’ll fit back into them is not as hazy and far off as it was 6 months ago, and that’s a really empowering feeling.

About the numbers…

Weight Start to Weight End: No weight loss this week. Pretty much broke even. I’m okay with it, but I’d really like to see some forward movement this coming week. Eyes on the prize. I want to hit that first milestone of 200 pounds.

Measurements: Did I mention how cute the top was that I wore this week? It was so tight around the middle, but I justified buying it because I was thrifting…hoping that one day it would fit and knowing that if it never did, I would just put it in the giveaway pile. It’s going to be my new favorite shirt. Plan to see me sportin’ it this Spring.

Calories: Popcorn. Chocolate. Coffee with creamer. More calories than what I’ve allowed on Fast Days in a long time. Planning to be more disciplined this week. It’ll help that I am not planning to go to the movies (mmm, buttered popcorn)…and I’ll try to drink more tea than coffee this week.

Try being the operative word.
